In 2002, a new SCADA-based control system for the steam boiler room at Pernstejn Brewery in Pardubice was implemented by the Czech company ELPRO Kolin. The boiler room consists of two steam boilers with two gas burners (one with 6 tons of steam capacity, the other with 8 tons of steam capacity), heat and chemical water-treatment plants, and hot-water heating and heating control units. The operation of the steam boilers is fully automatic and, if necessary, can be controlled from the main control room. Both steam boliers are controlled by a Tecomat NS950 PLC and their water levels are controlled by a Spyrax Sarco (SxS) device. All operation parameters and failure states are provided by an APT2100 LCD display located in the steam boiler room.
The control PC is equipped with the Reliance SCADA/HMI system to control and monitor the steam boilers including the gas burners. All operating data and error states are stored for later processing. The other computer with the Reliance system is located in the power-supply director's office to monitor the amount of produced steam, gas consumption, and raw water consumption.
