Visualization and control of the heating process at Drevotvar in the town of Jablonne nad Orlici

January 31, 2018 | Reliance SCADA

The manufacturing cooperative Drevotvar was founded in 1951 by an association of 17 craftsmen who combined their abilities with enthusiasm. Over the years it grew and modernized, and today it is a prosperous company that sells its products all over the world.

In 2017, it was requested that the cooperative's refurbished boiler room be integrated and controlled and the production and office facilities' heating system be controlled.

To control and visualize the heating process, ELG-ELECTRIC implemented a system that consists of a Tecomat Foxtrot PLC and the Reliance SCADA/HMI system.

Control system

The Tecomat Foxtrot PLC is installed in a control cabinet located in the cooperative building. The cabinet is also equipped with an HMI panel (ID-36), which is used to locally control the respective systems.

The control system is used for the monitoring and control of:

  • 400kW biomass boiler (wood chips)
  • Boiler setpoint reading and setting (Modbus)
  • Hot water heating
  • IRC (Individual Room Control) systems – the production and office facilities' hot-water heating system
  • 9 air-conditioning units with heating elements (SAHARA)

All data from the control system is passed to the operator's PC equipped with the Reliance SCADA system. Using visualization screens, Reliance allows the operator to monitor individual processes and alarm reports, set parameters, and use reports to view historical data. The operator can also access the visualization project and data via a tablet from remote locations.
