In 2015, Alpha Engineering installed a SCADA-based system for power plants at three locations in Nigeria: Mainland Power Plant Lagos, Luth IPP, and Pabode Power Plant. In total, these power plants contain 17 Cummins natural gas and diesel gensets and provide power to Lagos Airport, government offices, and the nearby area.
The Reliance SCADA/HMI system and two PLCs (Mitsubishi MELSEC-Q Series and Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200) are used to monitor and control all the gensets (Cummins QSK60 Gas and Cummins KTA19 Diesel). All parameters of the gas gensets and electrical parameters of the diesel gensets are incorporated. The PLCs communicate with the Reliance system over Ethernet.
The installed system has the capacity to control and monitor five more gensets in the future without the need of any additional hardware.
The Reliance SCADA system provides monitoring and control of the following:
The main visualization window; it indicates the status and active power of the gensets and feeders including a trend at the bottom
Visualization of a genset's parameters (all critical parameters are shown: temperatures, pressures, electrical parameters, alarms, etc.) including an active power trend at the bottom
Visualization of the feeders' status and all electrical parameters including the total load flow and a trend at the bottom showing each feeder's active power
Try the Reliance SCADA/HMI system on several example projects or download the installer of the trial version for free.
