Visualization and control of the VST water-supply and sewer system

August 12, 2014 | Reliance SCADA

VST (Vodarenska spolecnost Taborsko) is a water-supply company established by the towns of Tabor, Sezimovo Usti, and Plana nad Luznici in 2003. They put all water property into the company, i.e., water and sewer mains, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and other related facilities. The main objective of the company is to control and operate the water infrastructure in the territory of the founding towns.

This application is designed to monitor the water-supply and sewer system. Operating and error states of the process equipment are visualized as balance reports using the Reliance SCADA/HMI system. Operators are notified of key error states via text messages to their mobile devices. Some processes can even be controlled. Reliance's thin clients allow accessing the application remotely via Web pages (e.g., on a smartphone through Reliance Smart Client) or through a VPN connection.

Operating data is stored on two servers. The main benefit of using the Reliance SCADA system is that it allows for flexible communication between different systems from several suppliers.

The main benefit to the water-supply system's operators is that they can monitor in detail the entire system of approximately sixty remote process facilities.
