Visualization and control of the storage and use of biogas at the wastewater treatment plant in the Polish city of Rybnik

The water treatment plant is located in the northern part of Rybnik, near the Rybnik Power Station and Lake Rybnik (serving as a water reservoir).

Control system

In 2012–2013, the CONTROL-MAX and ELEKTROSKAN companies instaled an independent system for the control and monitoring of the storage and use of biogas at the facility. The system is based on a single Modicon M340 controller and the Reliance SCADA system.

The Reliance system is used by the plant's operating personnel in the control room (Reliance Control Server) and – to access data – in the management building (Reliance View). Its task is to supervise the processes of biogas use and storage, including alarms, control commands, measurement results, real-time and historical trends, and quantity reports.
