Visualization and control of the processes at Klise Swimming Pool in the city of Usti nad Labem

As part of the reconstruction of the Klise swimming complex in the city of Usti nad Labem, a modern control system was developed.

Control system

The monitoring and control system consists of three Modicon M340 PLCs (2,000 inputs and outputs in total) and the Reliance SCADA/HMI system. The PLCs communicate with Reliance over Ethernet via the Modbus TCP protocol. The main air-conditioning units have their own control system – Carel pCO (communication also via Modbus TCP).

The visualization system consists of a server with Reliance 4 Combi Package Enterprise, two control PCs, and two tablets with Reliance 4 Web Client. A UniFi Wi-Fi Controller, which is used to centrally manage Wi-Fi clients, is also running on the server. Maintenance workers can access the control system over a VPN connection even outside working hours using their home PCs or cell phones.

Although each control cabinet within the complex is not equipped with a control panel, there are Wi-Fi antennas and the operating personnel can use their tablets with Reliance Web Client. This allows individual processes to be controlled from any place with no need for using a control cabinet. A big advantage of this solution is its comfort and integrated HMI interface for end users. XML communication with the Reliance system allows data transfer to the information system, so the basic data about the swimming complex can be transferred to the visitor information panel.

The reason for choosing the Reliance system was its openness and communication abilities. In the future, it will also be possible to communicate with other systems (EFAS, ESS). Another key feature of the Reliance system is its quality Web server, which allowed for creating an integrated interface for end users.
