Reliance helped prepare the ice for the 2013 Speed Skating World Championship in Sochi!

April 3, 2013

Speed skaters Ireen Wüst of the Netherlands and Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic won
a gold medal in the women’s 3000 and 5000 m, respectively, at the 2013 World Championship held at the brand new speed skating stadium in Sochi, Russia. Thus, both countries confirmed their dominance in women's speed skating. However, few people know that they claimed their victories on the ice made by the Czech SCADA system Reliance! To be precise, Reliance and ice rink refrigeration systems were supplied to the stadium by the Dutch company Boukens Enkhuizen B.V.

The stadium in Sochi is the second speed skating oval where the Reliance SCADA system is used for the visualization and control of the refrigeration process. Reliance is already used in Astana, Kazakhstan, where the Asian Winter Games were held in 2011.

Congratulations to both girls on their victories. We believe that they will achieve the same results at any future speed skating events and on a high-quality ice surface prepared by Reliance.
