Communication with an OPC UA device

February 15, 2021

OPC UA (OPC Unified Architecture) is a communication protocol for industrial automation developed by the OPC Foundation. From the point of view of the Reliance SCADA system, the advantages of the protocol are platform independence, easy configuration of data exchange between multiple computers, and data encryption. This video shows how to connect a device with the OPC UA protocol to the Reliance system.

In this video, you will see

  • Creating a visualization project in the Reliance Design development environment
  • Defining a device of type OPC UA
  • Importing tags from the OPC UA server
  • Inserting two components (Display and Data Grid) into the visualization window
  • Linking the tags to the components
  • Running the project
