How to configure Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or a newer Windows operating system in order for Reliance to be able to communicate with an OPC server on a remote computer

August 1, 2010

Communication with an OPC server running on a remote computer makes use of the RPC and DCOM services. Windows XP Service Pack 2 brings many changes (in order to improve security) to these components. Some problems can occur with the connection between an OPC client and the OPC server on a remote computer after installing Service Pack 2. The OPC Foundation has released a document describing a way to solve these problems.
