In 2009, a new control system for the reliable control and visualization of the electricity and heat production processes was installed at the Dutch company P.C. van Tuijl Kesteren B.V. Electricity and heat are produced by a diesel generator set that operates on diesel and deep-frying oil. This installation was carried out by Peters van Ton.
The production of electricity and heat is controlled by the Reliance 4 SCADA/HMI system. Reliance also controls the cleaning of deep-frying oil. To get this oil as clean as possible for burning, it must pass through several filters. Clean oil is captured and transported to tanks. The filters get some dirt during the process of filtration. The replacement of dirty filters is provided automatically by the control system.

Once the deep-frying oil (fuel for the generator set) is filtered and stored in the tanks, it is ready for the production of electricity and heat in the generator set. Exhaust emissions and their concentrations are monitored during the operation of the generator set as well.
All these processes mentioned above are controlled from one place thanks to several well-arranged visualization windows created with the Reliance SCADA/HMI system. The operators can monitor and control the following processes:
Besides, the Reliance SCADA system allows sending information messages to the operators' cell phones. Thanks to this feature, the operators can stay informed about any changes made during the production process.
Fuel preparation
Oil transportation
Fuel filtration
Monitoring of exhaust emissions
