Reliance SCADA at VAFO Cicenice

In 2020, a modern production plant for dog and cat food – VAFO Fresh Meat – was put into operation in the Czech village of Cicenice. The factory, built on an area of 15,000 m², employs 60 people and has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes.

The facility uses manufacturing processes that enable the direct processing of fresh meat (beef, poultry, lamb, game, fish) without the use of hormones or genetically modified additives.

In 2026, VAFO Fresh Meat completed the installation of a system for controlling and monitoring the production line, consisting of Tecomat PLCs and the Reliance SCADA system. The implementation was carried out by BARSTECH.

The main advantage of this application is that it provides the end customer with real‑time insight into and control over the entire production process.

The solution was built primarily on motors with AC drives (the CANopen protocol), level sensors (Modbus), and in‑house‑manufactured weighing transmitters. All of these components were integrated through 21 Tecomat Foxtrot control units equipped with CIB and TCL peripheral modules.

The Reliance SCADA system plays a central role in the installation – it enables operators to monitor the production process in real time.

Screw conveyors
Motors

The control system operates in both manual and fully automatic modes.

All production data is stored in an SQL database for traceability and analysis. Based on this data, automatic raw‑material write‑offs are generated.

Direct integration of the planning system with production data has a significant impact on the entire material and product logistics chain. The planning system is built on the PHP scripting language.

The application provides the customer with robust and stable control of the production line, streamlines logistics processes, and ensures secure storage of production data.
