Visualization and control of the galvanizing process at BRISK Tabor

The Czech company BRISK Tabor was established in 1992 by transformation from the state-owned enterprise Jiskra to a joint-stock company.

In the context of privatization in 1995, BRISK Tabor became a company with purely Czech capital. Since its founding in 1992, the company has always attached great importance to research and development. It specializes in the production of spark plugs for personal automobiles and for machines in agriculture and forestry. In addition, BRISK Tabor produces diagnostic devices and sensors for the automotive industry. Its products are delivered to more than 50 countries all over the world.

Control system

n 2007, the general reconstruction of the zinc-and-zinc-nickel-coating galvanizing line was carried out by the Czech company AITEC. In addition to the reconstruction, a new SCADA-based control system was implemented.

To reliably visualize and control the galvanizing process, the Reliance SCADA/HMI system was installed at BRISK. The whole control system is composed of a Tecomat NS950 PLC and a computer equipped with the Reliance Runtime Control software. The Reliance SCADA/HMI system obtains important data from the PLC device over Ethernet. The galvanizing process can be controlled over several well-arranged visualization windows created with Reliance. Reliance also generates important records that comply with the ISO 9001 standard. For every product, a quality record is automatically generated and printed by Reliance. The quality record becomes part of the product.

As a result of the reconstruction and implementation of the new control system, the production capacity has been significantly increased. Moreover, it was possible to apply the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
