Web Client - Data Tree component

Reliance 4 Web Client has been enhanced by adding the support for the Data Tree component. The component displays data in a tree-like structure previously configured through Reliance Design. The component supports:

  • displaying all types of cells: Display, Text, Picture, Active Text and Active Picture
  • executing linked actions (e.g. when double-clicking a cell)
  • entering values for tags through Display-type cells while respecting access rights
  • the visual appearance of cells configured through Reliance Design

Note: The component does not currently support editing the tree structure.

The Data Tree component will be available with the Web client in the autumn of 2010.

Web Client - improved IP camera support

The Web client can now display the current image from an IP camera directly in a visualization window. Previously, it only displayed the IP camera symbol that functioned as a link to the camera's Web server. The image could only be displayed in a Web browser window.

The image is periodically updated. The update rate can be configured in the Options dialog.

The camera can be controlled using the mouse in a similar way as from the runtime software. By clicking the mouse on any place in the image, you can make the camera pan or tilt so that the place would appear in the center of the image. By scrolling the mouse wheel, you can zoom in or zoom out. Further commands (e.g. change the focus, save the current image to the clipboard or a file) are available in the popup menu.

The improved support for IP cameras will be available with the Web client in the autumn of 2010.

String Manager Translating project-defined strings using Google Translate

A new feature has been implemented into the String Manager which is part of the Reliance Design development environment. This feature facilitates the translation of text strings used in a visualization project by using Google's free online translation service, Google Translate. To translate certain text strings, you just select them in the String Manager and choose the Translate by Google command. This command passes the selected strings to the Google Translate service and then replaces them with the translated strings returned by the service. Google Translate currently supports 57 languages.

Naturally, the results of the translation may not always be perfect. So, it is necessary to check them. Nevertheless, the new feature substantially accelerates the development of multi-language projects.

The new feature will be available with the String Manager in the autumn of 2010.
