Visualization and control of the treatment process at the Humpolec Wastewater Treatment Plant

A new control system for the wastewater treatment station for Humpolec was implemented in 2006 by DBD CONTROL SYSTEMS. Control of treatment processes is handled by a TECOMAT TC700 PLC device. Implementation of new control system includes:

• preliminary treatment
• primary and secondary treatment
• aerating processes
• sludge processes
• anaerobic and aerobic processes
• oil processing
• sludge disposal

Control system

The Reliance 3 SCADA/HMI system allows control of all treatment systems. Control of the treatment processes can be handled by an industrial panel computer, which is a very useful feature in the event of failure of the control computer. The TECOMAT PLC device is equipped with a DATABOX (secondary data memory) which is used for data collection from a system.

The control computer with the Reliance SCADA/HMI system enables displaying of the visualization windows of the individual treatment processes. The visualization windows show the states (running, failures, open, closed, preset mode, running hours), the measured values (current value, exceeding of the limit values, failures, historical databases), the alarms with recorded timestamp and power take-off (system provides turn-off priority of every electrical device of the wastewater treatment plant). The Reliance system also generates the Balance Sheet and Operation Log. The Operation Log can be edited with Microsoft Office. The Prediction Service System is a very useful feature. This feature helps the operator to set a service interval of every electrical device.

• Fully automatic operation with operator supervision
• Manual control from remote center
• Full-manual operation of the treatment devices

The SCADA system also enables control of the electronic security system. In the event of failure the SCADA system provides sending of information (SMS message) to any cell phone. Following the SMS message, the operator can display the visualization window and check the failure from any computer connected to the Internet. The operator can monitor the process or change a process parameter through the visualization if needed. The system also provides parallel data transfer over the current radiotelemetric network to the Control Center of VODAK company, which is an entrepreneur of the Humpolec Wastewater Treatment Plant.
