Control system of enterprise gas flow and consumption for Ceska Rafinerska company

Ceska Rafinerska is the largest crude oil processing company and the largest producer of oil products in the Czech Republic. It operates refineries in Litvínov and Kralupy nad Vltavou. The company was established on April 28th 1995. Ceska Rafinerska is a joint venture of 4 shareholders: Czech refining-petrochemical holding company Unipetrol and the three reputable international companies: ENI, Shell and ConocoPhillips.

Ceska Rafinerska is one of the most significant Czech companies. the company's industrial activities influence the whole Czech Republic and at the same time it plays an important role within the Central European region.

The company is the proud holder of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates. It has the right to use the titles "Safe Company" and "Responsible Care".

Ceska Rafinerska is the largest consumer of natural gas in the North-Bohemian region. Its daily natural gas flow has been set to a certain quantity. The Ceska Rafinerska company would be penalized, if its natural gas flow was overdrawn. A new control system of enterprise gas flow and consumption was implemented for this purpose.

Control system

The company's daily natural gas flow and its consumption is controlled by a SCADA-based system. If any warning or critical limit is reached, SMS messages and E-mails are automatically sent to personnel responsible for the control system. In order to provide a time allowance for any necessary cut-down of natural gas consumption, the warning and critical limits can be changed by the operating personnel.

An automatic data acquisition from three ELCOR-94 (Gas-volume conversion device) is carried out by a Reliance Server, which is located in a server room, together with GSM modules and a modem. Reliance Runtime Control clients and Reliance J Web clients can connect to the Reliance Server. All natural gas consumption data is stored in a database every hour and is available for Reliance Runtime Control clients and Reliance J Web clients. Another feature of the control system is the display of trends and reports of natural gas consumption.
